Telefonica Trac Phone systems
Ericsson F250m and Ericsson F251m

We now support the Telefonica Trac Phone systems from technical problems to internet connections. We have noticed that a lot of the English like to spell Trac with a k at the end (track) both are correct but the Spanish spell it trac without the K. If you currently have the old Analogue Trac phones we would recommend you upgrade to the new digital systems as the old system is no longer supported.

Since we have started here in Spain, we have found a lot of people using the Trac phones in there home or business. We have also found a lot of people having problems with the Trac Internet connections from, modems not working with the line, to getting an engaged tone when trying to connect.

The modem problem is easily fix by replacing your modem with a Trac compatible internal or external. If have been total that internal PCI modems don't work, it's not true! Any good computer technician will tell you that your computer has to have the correct chipset on the modem to work with a Trac phone. The reason for this is that Trac Phones aren't link a normal landline they are infact GPRS which is what a mobile phone uses. So Like a mobile phone you are still bound with the small problem if you can't get mobile signal you can't have a Trac phone but there are ways round this problem. If you have to go outside with your mobile to get signal you can have a cellular Signal Booster which is a small box with a small roof mounted antenna (it's a bit like a TV antenna).

The name for a Trac Phone in a technicians language is infact called a 'fix cellular terminal' and the make and model Telefonica is using is the Ericsson F250m and Ericsson F251m which is soon to be changed to Xacom Celline.

The Internet connection problems will still continue as the latest update from Telefonica is the engaged problem, Telefonica have hit the maximum capacity and the only fix they had was to keep trying to connect. Most of us know what Telefonica's support and customer service desk is like so it was most probably their way of get us off the phone! Who knows but as a landline phone goes it's still a good phone system.

Some days we get asked the question "when i'm using the Trac phone to make a call its sometimes crackerly" This problem is an ongoing problem that we have been looking into and have the same problem with mobile phones from time to time so we are sorry to say there is no real fix for this problem.

If you do have any questions about the Trac Phone service in Spain please do feel free to contact us.
