After installing Internet Explorer 7 we found a couple of problem with the run once page, the first problem is you cannot get off that page no matter what you do it just will not contiune to the next page...
The second problem we came across what even if you complate the run once and then set your home page to say google the run once comes back every time.
To fix this problem is very simpleall you need to do is click here to download the run once fix or follow the steps below to change the registry.
To do these following steps below:
- Click Start and Then Click Run
- In the open box type regedit then press enter or click OK
- In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following path
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
- Now in the right window right click select New then select DWORD Value
- You will now see a new value highlighted called New Value #1
- Rename it to RunOnceComplete then press enter. Then double click it.
- Now change the value data from 0 to 1 now press enter or click OK
- Now right click in the window on the right select New and then select DWORD Value
- Once again you will see a new value which is highlighted and call New Value #1
- Rename it to RunOnceHasShown then press enter. Now double click on it and change the value data from 0 to 1
- Now close Registry Editor and go to Internet Explorer
- Click Tools then Internet Options and change the home page to your preferred website i.e. www.google.co.uk
- Click Apply then Click OK
All done! You should now get your preferred home page intead of the Microsoft Run Once page.
Microsoft have now release Internet Explorer 8 and We’d recommend you download the new version of Internet Explorer by using Windows updates from the start menu or by clicking this link. If you are somewhat like us who are not a fan of the Microsoft Internet Explorer then why not try Mozilla FireFox or www.google.co.uk/chrome
